  • Manually set them up. Even if imaging can set this up, would like to keep them within the class C school subnet.
    • we can do that by imaging one campus,then changing server image policy to next range, and continue.

  • chris votes for open instead of star due to support,etc. due to file compatibility.

st. chimed in about more books available with star (at least in the past)

    • skip found a perl script that could go thru the server and convert all *.lwp to doc.
    • should we use open doc type going forward ala massachussetts law?
    • cb - star 8 has MSI install, but has further prompts beyond what the transform does. Be sure it's on image.

  • Make sure it's newest version. Supposed to handle remote functions better IIRC from reading. Also, might want to look at the background service that keeps poll of wkstations so it doesn't have to rebuild each time we open the Configuration App.

20. intel chipset upgrade ... (should this be an addon? or maybe even something that can run automatically at first login if necessary?), needed for alpha-smart to work well usb. prob needed for every machine. so let's put it in base for all pc's we have.

12. AOS Needs new image with new Acrobat installed with the toolbar feature being disabled. They also need policy set so that they can not use the edit feature through any web browser.

13. Possibly create a 98 image for Special Ed. self-contained teachers and Speech Paths. They have several programs that are not on network and saved to c: Becky has requested that their machines not be re-imaged at this time.

win2000?

because we have lots of win2k coa's(800's), I'd like to use that where possible. to save money. same software as xp except latest sp. chris identified quicktime related file that likely would allow compass to run on 2000.

  • quicktime/compass was problem last time we tried 2000
  • sp21715 is video driver needed for 733
