daily check list for morning

temperature in server room

  • should be blowing full cold air behind server
  • should be comfortable in room (<80)

admin station on helpdesk

  • login to our network
  • groupwise local email from admin to skip (use proxy to switch accounts)
    • check address book
    • send to hotmail or yahoomail or blackberry?
  • login to gw messenger

DIS / router

  • from a workstation command prompt

Cluster

  • iManager, green lights on all drives and web site/messenger

  • Run Z:\techping.bat or ping the following:
    • ping 10.0.1.1 - ais
    • ping 10.0.2.1 - ahs
    • ping 10.0.4.1 - aps
    • ping 10.0.0.200 - amsserver
    • ping 10.0.0.251 – pac server
    • ping 10.0.0.243 – compass server

Terminal Server (use remote desktop connection – connect to ....)

  • terminal.almasd.net

dns/dhcp running on - use Adrem Remote console

GWAVA

  1. Use putty to connect with this address: 10.0.7.15
  2. Log in as root
  3. Type in the following command:
/etc/init.d/gwavaman status

This will list all GWAVA Linux services and their statuses. Should one service report "failed", restart GWAVA with

/etc/init.d/gwavaman restart

Printing

Resyncronize Database Set (was causing printers to unbind - cburress)
s 11:25, 10 May 2007 (CDT)(this is by design. they unbind, re-bind, without having to unload ndpsm. which has been known to lock up - st)

skip strikes in concession of argument.(for the wiki record, my argument was that printers were not re-binding after a db resync, and was causing downtime for users - cburress)

    • send results of and scheduled outages by email to “plus” in groupwise

  • refresh kaplunk with old gui
    • FILE TRANSFERS > SMS > STUDENT QUERY TOOLS > IMPORT
  • Notify PLUS users to refresh by email from helpdesk
