generally, all staff are trained by their predecessor. bill elliott at wecoop is our formal contact for training. throughout the year, he contacts skip by email to let him know that a session will be offered soon. skip forwards that to the principal that seems pertinent with the message "contact bill directly" if interested.

1. create unix in "dos screens" prior to launching plus screens

user name standard is first initial +last name

(statewide system......so user account may already be in use somewhere)
message will be (paraphrasing)... 'account already exists' indicating another dba has created an account with that name already. therefore you can't modify it or use it!

• to apply resources (rights), simplest method is copy prior employee or similar.

IQ

• routines named "APSCN ...." were produced by apscn help support
• all others likely made by skip (perhaps dwoolly)
• IQ is basically SQL.
• any programmer can figure it out (See [[1]Thad Nipp]
• apscn has made table changes over the years which can reek havoc on old iq reports

note: discipline overwent a major change in 06-07 with advent of "plus" it included multiple schema changes. yielding skip's old discipline notices defunct. apscn help had to fix 800-435-7989.

the toughest issue - what is in use?

• rarely the requestor knows what the name of the report is. causing some grief
• there are dozens of old routines that aren't used. but no one person can say which they don't use any longer
• if you were to ask any particular principal, they wouldn't likely know what they do use. typically events occur during the school year, prompting them to think. oh yeah" i need labels" etc.

Intermediate School Transcript Labels - IQ - Student_Report_Card - Trans Labels for AIS. Printer same as all other transcript labels. condense print 8 lines per inch. This label has attendance listed.

area for improvement would be

• the requestors keeping up with the name of the report they use and why for their own recall
• new web page request page outlining steps for them to determine which iq report they want and request it by name instead of description
• a study of which iq's are still in use
• a drop-down list of same iq's ?

Year End Rollover

Bill Elliott calls and sets an appt skip

for 2007, the appt is July 2, 2007 @ 10:30. typically takes 30 minutes. but one year bill and I ran our mouths and screwed up and it took a restore/redo to get it right (2 hours that year) O:\SKIP\apscnYearEndRolloverPreparationChecklist.pdf

• the checklist is mostly done by each school. I send it to principals. they delegate.
• some parts are performed by skip - namely the calendar additions. typically, dw cleans the calendars during the year as a side-effect of 'cycle reporting'.
• on 5/31. skip added june 6 07 to the 07 calendars to meet requirement 2a,b,c
• on 5/31. skip added estimated dates for q2,q3,q4 to 08 calendars to meet req. 3.
• on 5/31. skip forwarded checklist to all principals, mr woolly, nerds.
